Description

Hello up for your bidding consideration is a very rare piece of antique fabric
from the later 1800's
it still has the original paper label attached
24 x 72" so 2 yards total
fabric is crisp and clean abric
has not been washed or used
colors are bright and vivid
The green is darker than photos show
no rips stains tears or odors
there is several small dark stain marks on the wrong side of fabric
but doesnt really show on right side of fabric
there is 2 very tiny holes on the edge of 1 side shown in photos and 1 very tiny hole near the center of fabric
the rare paper label is in very good condition with just 1 place with a tear fold over shown in photo
A & W Sprague Cranston R. I. Providence R.I. is info on the label
From doing some research A & W Sprague  was the Governor of Rhode Island at one time
If I remember correctly he also was in the Senate
He was in the military also
A very successful and wealthy business man owning various companies
He opened and owned this mill until the 1873 crisis
So If I am reading the info correctly
production of this fabric couldnt of been any later than 1873 as I think that is when he sold this mill
Just google his name and you will learn the history of this  man from the 1800's and his companies
I consider this fabric and paper label to be very rare as well as an historic piece of history but that is just my opinion
I have other listings with quilt blocks that are antique also
I purchased them along with this fabric together
So they could possibly be made from this brand of fabric?
I dont really know for sure since there isnt any markings on them
Thanks for viewing this rare collectible
