    Description

    Such a unique find!
You are bidding on an antique from the 18th Century.  I do believe that this primitive piece of embroidery may have once been a part of a large quilt, coverlet or bedspread.  As you can see, it does have some staining.  Perhaps the entire blanket was torn or water-damaged and someone wanted to preserve the most important part as a family keepsake?  Hence, they cut a piece out of it.  I am sure that there is quite a bit of history here.  The needlework features a basket of fruit with "raised" portions which have been filled with some sort of material to make it appear 3-dimensional.  The material is either cotton or linen.  This was handmade BY someone named "Eliza" OR handmade FOR someone named Eliza in 1788.  Although this is not displayed in an actual decorative frame, whomever simply adhered it onto a thin wood or cardboard-type frame.  Then they used a type of cloth tape(sewing tape?) to keep it firmly attached to its homemade frame.  This antique textile featuring decorative folk art measures approximately 14" x 11".  I have not attempted to clean this up in any way.  It is as it was found.
What you see is what you get!
